Unhappily Ever After

I love the images created by animation storyboard artist Jeff Hong in his Tumblr page Disney Unhappily Ever After. CombiningĀ the viewer’s personal connectionĀ toĀ Disney’sĀ iconic characters with issues environmental andĀ social justice issues creates some affecting images.

The altered context surroundingĀ the much-loved characters creates a strong entry point into the narrative for theĀ issues highlighted. From children living on the streets to the melting polar ice caps,Ā these images are potent.

If you loved the Little Mermaid, its hard not to feel something seeing her crawling onto an oil-soaked beach.
